In April and May 2024, The Georgia Aviary visited Kate’s Club, an organization supporting children, teens and families who have experienced the death of someone close to them. Our team brought parrots to an April program and a family night, sharing opportunities to learn about the birds and their care.
The April 13 program
During the Saturday, April 13 visit, our team gave an interactive presentation about parrots, including their characteristics and behavior. Participants had opportunities to ask questions and interact with the birds under the guidance of our handlers.
The visit introduced participants to the responsibilities involved in caring for parrots and the work of The Georgia Aviary.

Family night on May 15
We returned for family night on Wednesday, May 15. The evening included stories about the parrots and conversations about conservation and animal care.
Families also worked together to make toys for the parrots. The activity connected the visit to a practical part of parrot care: providing opportunities to explore and engage with appropriate enrichment.

Learning through community outreach
We are grateful to the Kate’s Club staff, volunteers and participating families for welcoming our team and birds.
